ALL ABOUT BARTLES BESPOKE FURNITURE & JOINERY
Bartles Bespoke is the trading name of the sole trader Steven Andrew Bartle, Steven is a trained cabinet maker from Halifax with over ten years experience in the trade. Before starting Bartles Bespoke Steven worked for a local family run joinery company in Halifax (his dad Michael's!) since leaving school, firstly part time at 16 as a general extra pair of hands and then as an apprentice followed by 8 years as a professional joiner working as part of a small team in a well established family run business.
Steven has an extensive background in antique restoration and made to order furniture with a specialization in work from reclaimed timbers, pine doors and bespoke fitted wardrobes.
During past employment Steven worked as part of a team on bespoke kitchens, fitted wardrobes, all aspects of domestic joinery and various items of furniture, some of the images displayed on this website are examples of past work Steven worked on for his former employer.
Bartles Bespoke was originally launched as a side gig alongside Steven's previous employment with the full backing of his former boss (and dad!) Michael as a way of earning extra money and expanding on his skills and portfolio by taking on jobs that were not regularly taken on by his past employers.
As the work load increased and more orders came in Steven launched Bartles Bespoke as a full time bespoke joinery company in January 2020 and opened workshops in Sowerby Bridge, Halifax.
Steven works as a one-to-one service to create bespoke pieces of furniture and joinery, all handmade and with each customers personal taste and requirements built into every design.
Bartles Bespoke is now a small family business with Steven's partner Emma who looks after the customer service, administration and social media side of things, and there is our baby Oliver who, although has not yet quite yet mastered the art, we hope will grow to step into dad's (and grandads!) shoes and continue the generations of passionate cabinet makers.
On occasion we will employ short term staff from a team of joiners and labourers from Steven's network in the trade, each with their own specializations that help on specific jobs relating to their skills when we take on larger jobs or during busier periods.
On a more personal note, Steven lives in Halifax with Emma, son Oliver and his two crazy dogs, he also plays bass for a local band and is a season ticket holder at Huddersfield Town AFC.
